The Weather

You cannot do anything about the weather, so you might as well enjoy the day no matter the number of clouds or the heat of the sun.  I think this applies to a lot of things that we gripe about, those little things that we let tie our insides into knots.  Pick your peeves is my new motto.  Don’t know if I’ll be able to stick to it, but I’ll try.  Judy

New Words and Omens

I love discovering new words.  The other morning, when I was working my daily crossword puzzle, the answer was CLEW.  The definition was: a ball of yarn or cord.  I laughed and said, “I haven’t got a clew!”  But this word is trickier than that.  On checking Webster’s Ninth, I found out that the other spelling for clew is clue and it also means a piece of evidence.   I was clueless about clew!  So why have I never heard of the other spelling or the other meaning until now?  It could be an omen!  Stephanie and I are working on a mystery.  We believe in omens.  Of course they don’t always work out…like all those frogs we kept seeing when we wrote the frog story that still hasn’t sold. (Oh, yeah, we have those, too.)  About omens and how they work–I haven’t got a clue about that, either.  Judy

Peeves

Is it only me or is anyone else bothered by magazine publishers who send you a “renew or else” notice only three months after you’ve subscribed?  Now I’m getting them just six months after subscribing for some magazines for my grandkids.  I’ve marked my calendar for renewal dates that are closer to when the subscriptions expire–unless I get so peeved by reminders that I decide not to.
